Children and Families

Grace Church is a family – friendly church
We care about our children and young people and want to help them follow Jesus. Our children stay with the church family for the beginning of our service as we worship together, they then go to their groups to receive age appropriate teaching and activities. When we have Lord’s Supper the children come back into the service so that we can celebrate together as a church family.
If you would like to chat to us about our children’s groups or have any questions please feel free to get in touch
Creche
(6 months - 4 yrs)
The children can play in a relaxed environment and are encouraged to listen to a short story from the bible, sing songs and take part in a related craft. We also have an unmanned creche to the side of the main hall
Kids Club
(Reception - Y2)
The session starts with some games then the children read a passage from the Bible, have discussion and prayer time, and then link this together with an activity so they go home with a reminder about what they have heard
Explorers
(Y3 - Y6)
For the slightly older children there is more chance to dive deeper into God's word. The children read a passage from the Bible each week and link it with an activity and game so they go home with a reminder about what they have heard
Our Volunteers
Our children’s and youth ministry is run by our amazing team of church volunteers who love children and have a passion to see them grow to understand how much Jesus loves them. Each of our DBS checked volunteers can be spotted by their purple T-shirts! So if you arrive to a service and have any questions feel free to chat to one of them and they can point you in the right direction.
For each of our children’s groups you will need to sign your child in and out each week, this helps us keep tract of who is around and means we have the needed information in case of an emergency.

Our teaching material
When teaching the children we try and match our teaching with the sermon series we are going through as a church at any given time. This is to help children feel part of the church body and encourage family conversations and discussion. We use content from different resources, and are currently using content from Mustard Seed – for more information click here

Head of Children’s and Youth Ministry
I’m Katie and I’m a primary school teacher. I’ve been at Grace Church for 10 years and I have been the Children’s and Youth ministry lead since 2022. I serve alongside a great team of volunteers who have a passion for teaching our children and youth more about Jesus.
